Intended to make strawberry or blueberry tarts when I'm on leave for that week.
However, due to a special request, I decided to conquer cheese tart.
Anyway, first the tart crust....
The ingredients are as follows:
1 1/2 cups finely ground graham cracker crumbs (I used McVites as a subsitute instead)
1/3 cup white sugar
6 tablespoons butter, melted
Please note that the serving is for 8. mmm... I think maybe 8 big pies? not really sure how many does the 8 serves actually...
anyway, my serving was to divide it by 2.... but it was way too much ??? I think it can make like more than 20 small tarts?
The instructions:
1. Mix graham cracker crumbs, sugar, melted butter or margarine, and cinnamon until well blended . Press mixture into an 8 or 9 inch pie plate.
2. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 7 minutes. Cool. If recipe calls for unbaked pie shell, just chill for about 1 hour.
manage to grind the disgestive bscuits but I still think it is not very well grind.
anyway, everything went on smoothly until the butter... guess what I missed out the word MELTED after the butter... I used semi solid butter... so of course, the tart crust doesnt stick together... so.... redo everything lo......omg...
m, 4 tarts crust are out....
and now the filling.....
the ingredients are....:
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
2 eggs
1 cup white sugar
1 (9 inch) prepared graham cracker crust
as mentioned above, this is to serve for 8.. haha... dunno 8 what though... 8 people? 8 pies? maybe 8 people ba...
anyway, my initial plan was to divide all the portion by 2... please take note of the word initial...
okie... here is the instruction for the filling for the cheese tart..
1. Combine cream cheese, eggs, 1 cup sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer. Mix on low speed until smooth. Pour filling into graham cracker crust.
2. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 35 minutes. Remove pie from oven. Raise oven temperature to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
okie... i have added the cream cheese, the eggs, the suger... after mixing... please note that i dun have an electric mixer.. everything is done manually...=)... and... after mixing mixing mixing... it doesnt seems smooth... everything seems very lumpy.........
something doesnt seems right.....mmm....
okie... now i know why... before i mixed the eggs and suger with the cream cheese, i didnt mix the cream cheese in a smooth way... like 1 circular motion.. instead... i cut them into square pieces... soooooo.... it becomes lumpy...
and so i wasted one whole package of cream cheese....
this time round, i tried half a package of cream cheese instead...
soooo.... i first soften the cream cheese in a circulate motion first... so that after i add in the eggs and the sugar and start mixing them together, everything will hopefully come out smoothly as expected....
when i was doing this cheese tart, i was visualizing the cheese cake in hilton... it is very very very very nice... the nicest cheese cake i have eaten so far... haha.. and that is my target! =p...
so... i felt that to have such a smooth and delicious cheese cake, the cheese filling must be very smooth..... and so.... the stirring process starts...i stir, stir, stir and stir until the mixture becomes very smooth, until i become statisfied..
okie.. dunno after how many stirs, it indeed become quite smooth..... and i added a few drops of lemon... according to the website and i felt that adding lemon might decrease the level of sourness?
anyway, in the oven it goes, after i put the filling into the tart...
finally after about 30 mins, it's baked! hee... actually im not sure how to determine whether is it bake.... depends on gut feeling... i think my guage was on the filling.. when it became not as watery, i assume it is baked... hahah
send it over once it is done.. didnt really have a taste of the cheese tart...
and luckily, the remark for the cheese tart was it is nice.. esp for the cheese that part... mmm.. not sure what does it mean by nice though... smooth? not very sour? or??? haha...anyway, i dun think the tart is really nice.. i felt la.. though it smells quite nice...
